Wanted: Tea Party Dresses

I've never been a big fan of cotton sundresses or tight movement-limiting sequin tank dresses or even the glamorous satin prom dresses. They just don't sit well on my stick-like body and frankly they're not really my style, but I think I've found my perfect type of dress: these beautiful high rounded collar, sleeveless mini dresses with pleats or ruffles that hit right at the perfect spot of several inches above the knee. They remind me of first lady, tea-party dresses, and with all the free time winter break gives me, I amassed pictures from various websites to feed my obsession.
One. This was one of the first dresses I came across, while browsing online blogs and websites,
and I am crazy in love with the bold color of the stand-alone dress that allows minimal accessories and the casual, yet sheer delicate fabric.

Two. Another one from the same, vintage clothing website, that I was drawn to by the higher collar in the front and v shape in the back. The color, pattern of minuscule hearts, pleats, and bow is absolutely mesmerizing.

Three. It's the same type of dress by with sheer stripes around the collar, as well as the bottom.
Something about partially sheer tops and dresses make me shamelessly ogle at them.
My favorite part about these dresses is that it's tight at the top and flares out at the bottom: the best of both.

Four. How adorable is this burnt orange and cream dress?
The gathering at the collar, rough-looking belt, and the cream peeked out under the full skirt: it's all spectacular.

Five. I usually wouldn't be a fan of this muddy green olive color,
but with lace overlay in the front, leaving the v shaped back, paired with oxfords and the cute hat, it's hard to resist, and for a significantly lower price than the rest.

Six. I saved the best for last: probably the most formal looking.
But it's mostly just the shape of the dress and how much it matches the dress from my dreams that makes me love it.

I just can't get over how adorable these dresses are. Can you?

Abberation

Hope you guys had a lovely Christmas, with your families and friends.
For the longest time, I've had this poor white button-up shirt moping in the back of my closet, untouched. For high school girls like me, it's difficult to incorporate such a grown-up piece. However, today, I choose to bring it out of the closet and layer cardigans over it to tone down the very work-attire-appropriate shirt. Since the outfit is quite monotonous, I opted for a bright pink and grey striped cardigan, accompanied by my usual sweater tights and converse sneakers.

Not captured in pictures quite as nicely as I'd like, the grey skirt actually has very delicate zipper detailing along the front, and a black waistband belt-lookalike.

Sophisticated Vibe

I wore this to my mom's company annual party.
This is actually the first time I've worn this bodycon skirt since I bought it over the summer. I can never find a way to wear this to school while staying casual at the same time, because this simple black and white striped skirt can dress up anything, I swear, even a ratty baggy tshirt.
Mixing patterns: stripes and florals, yay. But I figured the colors of the top and the skirt were pretty plain on their own,
so I threw on this red cardigan and a belt. Better?

Seeing a ton of other blogs always including food pictures, I thought I'd sneak in a picture of the dessert: fruit tart with salty honey glaze. Yumm.
Also, Merry Christmas! :D

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Today technically marks the beginning of winter, although, the season of cold weather and gloomy days has already begun in my mind. Even though I'm definitely more of a summer-spring type of person, winter can be magical too (but I guess you can't experience the full effect without snow).

And I also want to thank you guys for all the comments on my last outfit post and the sudden increase of readers. I appreciate you for simply coming across my blog that I started just last week! (:
I'll also be going to a holiday party for my mom's company, so keep your eyes open for that outfit post. Until then, enjoy some wintery pictures I put together (and haha I don't have an iPhone so I had to find ways to do the cool photoshake app without the actual app).

Maybe I'm a little bit over my head..

I come undone at the things he said,
And he's so funny in his bright red shirt;
We were all in love and we all got hurt;
-Vanessa Carlton's White Houses (old, but I love it.)

Typical school girl outfit. Even the pieces are from typical teenager girl stores, like f21 and Charlotte Russe. I rarely shop there, because so many girls shop there, the pieces lack originality, and not to mention, quality. Before I even wore one of f21's sweaters I bought, I had already seen two girls at my school wear the exact same one, and when I decided to wear it, I discovered a hole in the sleeve. However, sometimes I just can't resist, ignore what my brain and past experiences tell me, and pick up some cardigans.

And believe it or not, this is the first winter I haven't cringed about having to wear jeans, the only suitable type of pants when it comes to surviving cold winter days, thanks to these black skinny jeans that feel more like velvet than actual denim.

Chocollateee... Yum, this was such an impulsive buy: They were on sale at Target for 3 dollars each, and being there with my friend, we just started grabbing and fangirl-ing over all the chocolates. Haha.

Tutus Year Round

One of my favorite pieces and also one of the hardest pieces for me to wear casually to school are tutus. This beige colored tulle one is from a local store where I live and as soon as I saw it on the mannequin display, I was so excited to just rip it off the hangers and try it on. They're just so girly and fun to wear.

To avoid freezing to death and I guess "toughen" it up, I put on sweater tights and my favorite jacket: this leather slash sweatshirt one with lots of metal hardware stuff going on.

Just like all the seasons...

Never stay the same.
All around me I can feel a change.
I will break these chains that bind me,
Happiness will find me.
Leave the past behind me,
Today my life begins.
-Bruno Mars's Today My Life Begins (I rediscovered it)

Finals are officially over and my hard work has definitely paid off, as my eyes fill with tears after learning I received an A in Calculus, the hardest course I'm taking. Still, my favorite part about it is a new semester awaits. New grades and new improvements, it's like a small starting over. Here's my simple outfit, centering around the draped cardigan.

So I was editing the pictures, and I realized that the camera or light completely washed my sweater out and neutralized the  bright yellow color, making it look like a white or cream sweater, but don't be fooled. Here's a more accurate picture of the sweater, and even in my room, the lighting washes it out. It's actually a very vibrant almost neon yellow. I didn't want to go back outside in the cold, haha.

There's still room for a little bit of summer

Basking in the sun is one of my favorite things to do; naturally summer's my favorite season. So when the sun comes out in the colder months, there's no way I'm missing an opportunity to wear a skirt.
The skirt's actually a skort, a skirt with built in shorts, which I don't know why they don't sell more of these because it's convenient not having to worry about your skirt going up, and you can pull it up and belt it like a high waisted skirt. Haha, are they weird or something? Well, I like them.

I don't wear heels (I wore my black converse with this to school) but I thought the outfit looked too cute with my mom's heels to pass up.

Rose Garden

Whenever I go shopping, I tend to browse through the tops (more like viciously flip through the racks hungrily) and ignore the bottoms section entirely. In fact, off the top of my head, I can't even remember which section the pants and skirts are sold in my favorite stores. So most of the time, I lay out the pretty top I'm going to wear, and whatever pants or skirt matches it, which can result in a lack of variety since my black jeans match everything, but here's an outfit with jean shorts and sweater tights. Still on a hunt for the perfect not-very-opaque, good quality, even-looking pair of normal tights, after my favorite pair ripped down the entire leg (a very sad moment).

The floral shirt I'm wearing has little bits of see-through mesh material,
so you can wear a bright colored tshirt inside and have it peek through,
but here I kept it simple with a grey tee inside.

A starting place..

I guess a simple introduction about myself is a great starting place for this blog. I'm sixteen, and have already discovered the beautiful fashion world on the internet, mostly through my initial discovery of chictopia and the very similar lookbook, and for the lack of less cheesy words, fallen head over heels into the organized chaos of patterned scarfs, delicate lace dresses, over-sized chunky cardigans, and velvet skirts in the wintertime. For a long time now, I've found myself scrolling through pages of fashion blogs, mesmerized by the pieces they acquire and how they style these, everyday after school, sometimes frustrated when my absolute favorite blogs don't post several days in a row. When I discover a new blog, fresh off chictopia, it feels like discovering fashion all over again, and to be impressed every time with the most amazing photography and lighting.
So I thought I would give this fashion blogging a try (although I've been posting on chictopia for maybe a year now, it's an entirely different feeling having your own blog) and I'm beyond excited to start. You can tell all this is very romanticized in my mind, haha.  But, nevertheless, here's to a new adventure...
